We are delighted to welcome local painter Nina Machielse Hunt as artist residence in the Creative Studio during August, September and October.
Nina is an established artist and educator based in Beechworth. As Artistic Director of the Beechworth Biennale and Director of Beechworth Contemporary, Nina is a pivotal figure within the art world of North East Victoria.
During her residency, Nina will embark on a new body of work which explores the concept of “the space between”, a place or state of transition or change which can be physical or psychological. Nina's thirty-minute commute between her home in Beechworth to the studio at Hyphen will serve as a starting point for this exploration. She plans to respond to typography and layers of history that exist within the landscape during this journey.
